Web width measurement and monitoring of a web within a clear web. The customer requested a system that would monitor the width of the green web within a clear web and provide a read out of the measurement, a minimum and maximum width variation set point, recording of the data and a signal when the width was out of specification to have a printer mark the defective width section of the web. The application uses WPS 221 WL sensors for contrast sensing. The signal is processed by the SCU5 D(E)C with Ethernet Communication Capability and a PLC RTI 3.5. Price comparison, thousands of dollars less than the previous system they had mounted.
